Flow measurement using velocity and cross-sectional area of the fluid (AVFM) is one of the most commonly used methods for flow measurement. The AVFM 6.1 flow meter utilizes a float-type ultrasonic sensor to measure the fluid level and velocity, enabling the calculation of flow rate in open channels or pipelines. The sensor design is resistant to sediment, and corrosion, and it is installed below the channel or inside the pipeline. The AVFM 6.1 can be configured with a velocity-area sensor and can also be used with a separate non-contact ultrasonic velocity sensor, which is particularly suitable for bubbled fluids or fluids with high concentrations of solid particles.
The AVFM 6.1 can measure flow rates of up to 6 meters per second in the forward direction and flow rates of over 1.5 meters per second in the reverse direction. The submerged velocity-area sensor can measure partially filled and surcharged flows in pipes with pressures exceeding 10 psi. The recommended minimum pipe diameter for AVFM 6.1 is 150 millimeters.
Installation and configuration of the AVFM 6.1 are straightforward. Simply input the pipe diameter or channel dimensions into the AVFM 6.1, and the device will automatically perform the calculations and display the fluid volume. For installation and operation in channels with irregular or compound geometries, enter the width and several points of the channel surface through the user interface menu. For almost any channel cross-section shape, the displayed information can be customized according to the desired measurement unit.
This flow meter can store flow data with a time and date stamp at intervals ranging from every 10 seconds to 6 minutes. Daily flow reports are automatically generated, displaying the minimum, maximum, and average flow rates. By connecting the device to the built-in USB output, you can retrieve the report files.
