dB Transducer

  • Patented DATEM (Digital Adaptive Motion Echo Tracking) echo processing technology
  • FM/FMC approval
  • High internal security of the system

The dB Transducer series from Pulsar Measurement is a collection of level measurement sensors for wastewater and industrial environments. All of Pulsar Measurement’s ultrasonic level sensors offer reliable level measurement, volume, flow rate, pump control, and differential measurement capabilities for both liquid and solid applications, spanning a height range from 3 meters (9.8 feet) to 40 meters (131.2 feet).

All dB ultrasonic transducers from Pulsar Measurement feature the unique DATEM (Digital Adaptive Tracking of Echo Movement) technology, which is exclusive to Pulsar’s level measurement sensors. DATEM is a digital echo movement detection system that identifies real-time signal movement amidst background noise, collects and records it, and eliminates all unrelated environmental signals. This allows Pulsar Measurement’s level sensors to operate effectively in wet wastewater wells, noisy gravel silos, agitated mixing tanks, and other challenging environments. DATEM also seeks out signals in a very narrow frequency range, aiding in excellent noise rejection of both acoustic and electrical interference.

The high power of the dB ultrasonic transducer enables monitoring of all echoes with a single program, providing highly reliable level measurements that were not possible with previous devices and software. Thanks to the DATEM technology, the effective beam angle of Pulsar Measurement’s dB and dBi ultrasonic sensors is typically as narrow as 3 degrees.

The non-contact design of the dB ultrasonic level sensors means they can be installed without interruption in operations and require minimal maintenance, offering highly accurate non-contact measurements. Pulsar Measurement’s ultrasonic level sensor series has several advantages, including immersion guards for submersion, PVDF materials, safety parameters for sensors installed in hazardous locations, and many other features. Immersion guards are useful for keeping the transducer’s display screen clean and intact in applications where the sensor may be submerged.

In the case of submersion, the controller can be programmed to retain the high, low, and last reading values once the transducer is back in the circuit. When the level returns below the immersion guard, the controller can resume clean operation with a clean transducer.
